Blogoversary, demolition and a giveaway.

This is not a photo of my house, but it might as well be. It’s pretty much what our kitchen currently looks like. We’ve embarked on a major remodel, and it’s taking up much of my free time. I’m not the most frequent poster as is, and unfortunately it’s going to slow down even more over the next several months. I know how annoying it can be, checking a blog daily, or even weekly to find the same post lingering there, so please bear with me! And do consider subscribing to Scent Hive so you will get an email notice when I post something new.

Since it is Scent Hive’s 3rd year “blogoversary” today, I want to thank you so much for reading, commenting and supporting my blog, and what better way to do so than hold a giveaway? Leave a comment and you’ll be entered in a drawing for a full bottle (save for a few spritzes for reviewing purposes) of Red Flower’s Garnet Hill exclusive, Sweet Alyssum. I included Sweet Alyssum in my 2011 Holiday Gift Guide, which you can read more about here. Drawing is now closed. I will post winner in the next couple days.

Again, I can’t tell you all how much I appreciate you stopping by Scent Hive over these past three years. As Scent Hive enters its fourth, it might be slow going at first, but I will be sure to write about my most precious finds.

XOXO

Trish

  1. I love this blog! I have found many products which I adore and look forward to your posts-please finish that kitchen (just kidding!) Danielle

    1. Believe me, I want that kitchen done ASAP!! Thanks for the comment, and good luck in the draw.

And BTW, did you get your “Wash the Day Away” order yet? What did you think?

  2. I enjoy your email newsletter and I thank you for the chance to try this fragrance! I love the florals and this one sounds right down my alley.

  3. “Iris, violet, honey and hay?” Sounds divine.
Congratulations on a third year of success, and here’s to new kitchens!

    1. It’s really nice Ona, I love Red Flower’s fragrances.

Thanks for the kind words, and best of luck in the draw!

  4. I really enjoy reading this website!
I’m fairly clueless when it comes to perfumes & such, but your skincare picks have always lead me to discover new & interesting brands. Some of those I currently love or have on my wishlist.
So keep on posting and good luck with the kitchen 😉

  5. Happy Anniversary! I am so glad I found this website. I love
perfume, at least the natural ones! You give us such
excellent descriptions of the scents, I can almost smell it!
Good luck on your remodel and thanks for bringing this
    blog to us.

  6. As someone who’s been working on a 102 year old house since 1995 I understand what you are going through. We’ve done all the work ourselves and the punch list is still far from done but we call it our big art project and enjoy the “creative chaos” (that’s me being positive and grateful ;). The interesting thing about deconstruction is the smells released from aging wood and plaster. Not always pleasant but it brings to mind interesting sense memories…
Congratulations on your Anniversary and your commitment to your passion!

    1. I am duly impressed that you are doing all of the work yourself, kudos to you! And yes, interesting scents do waft about the house!

Thanks and good luck in the draw and on your house! 😉

  7. My little 1100 square foot house from the 1840’s went through some wonderful renovations. One owner added a back porch, and another turned that porch into a kitchen with skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows. It’s heaven! Good luck with your renovations, thank you for three years of artful blogging, and thank you for this giveaway.

  8. Hello

  14. Happy Anniversary! Don’t you love that Garnet Hill magazine? I’ve never bought anything, but I drool on it frequently. 🙂

I’m surprised that you haven’t been doing the blog more than 3 years. You have such an authoritative writing voice (know what I mean?).

    1. I too drool over the pages of Garnet Hill, it’s really lovely.

Hopefully my “authoritative” voice stems from my passion and not my being a bossypants, LOL.

  15. Trish, I have been so enjoying your blog over the last 3 years with so much good information on products and the lovely artwork. Congratulations to you! Good luck w. your renos you will have a lovely new kitchen when it is all over. Best of luck;)

  18. Happy Anniversary and congratulations !!! And my empathy and sympathy on the kitchen. I feeeeel yer paaaaiiin! We have been in reno for 3 years! yes. El O could (and pretty much is) rebuilding this house – but he’s adhd. So nothing is ever quite finished. The addition is ….oh, never mind. No need to freak you out!

Best of luck on the kitchen. I’m sure it will be gorgeous! Can’t wait to see the ‘after’ photos.

    xoA

  21. Congratulations on the labors of love (both the blog and the kitchen)! I love your voice behind your blog and thank you for the many ways you’ve opened my eyes to more natural products while retaining the basic, sensual elements that makes them so enjoyable in the first place. Enjoy all the fun time that is to come with your family and renovating the kitchen!

    1. What a lovely comment Sophia, I really do appreciate it! Thank you for the well wishes and good luck in the draw. 🙂

  22. Congratulations on your third anniversary! I enjoy reading your blog, which has provided good ideas and inspirations. Best of luck in completing your kitchen reno. You will be so happy when it’s done!

  23. I really like your blog. You have a lot of great info on holistic skin care. I am interested in finding more natural products especially for facial care. I have been using grape seed oil with and loving the results. Happy anniversary!

    1. I have never tried straight grape seed oil, but I have head great things about it, so I should!

Thanks for the sweet words, and good luck to you in the draw 🙂

  24. I really enjoy your blog, so look forward to more posts this year, even not as often ones! Love that I have a blog to come to consistently for DSH, Aftelier, SIP, and more of my favorite natural perfumers’ reviews. Also excited for this giveaway!

  25. Congratulations Trish!! Three years and still going strong! Scent Hive has been one of my blog ‘staples’ over the last few years, I appreciate your hard work!

I feel your pain with renovating though, we are going through the same at the moment, although are a little further along the track, in fact our painters should be finished today (a Sunday to boot!). Looking forward to the day that I don’t have to think about wall colours, cleaning up sand and mud being traipsed through the house, dealing with brick and plaster dust and my study desk not being in a major thoroughfare… lol, the end results I know will be worth it, so I’m putting the patience hat on….. 😛

    All the very best
    Holly

  26. Happy blogoversary! It’s nice to see you being so optimistic about the interruption in your blogging (several months? With the major renovation? Rrrright… 😉 ).

    Good luck with your renovations.

P.S. No need to enter me in your contest, I mostly wanted to celebrate this birthday with you.

  29. I’m very late replying to your post but I wanted to add my CHEERS for Scent Hive! Happy blogoversary! Scent Hive is just wonderful and I’m so happy to have found it.
